My second post of the year! I know! It has been one heck of a year! Right now it's pouring rain like crazy! I love it. This kind of weather always gives me the feeling of renewal and a refreshed outlook on life. I have had more ups and downs this year than any other I can even think of. As far as how busy I am, I really do think I always keep myself ridiculously busy despite trying to cut back. It never works. I think I subconsciously love stuff to do.

I've been working on quite a few wedding portraits this year along with logos for companies. I am really delighted with how things are working out. Also getting everything ready for this year's Pink Parlour Festival! Pretty much need to find a way to get the booth and items down there. Who knew having a baby took so much room in the car. We'll figure it out. I don't know how, but we always have before. Been keeping up on my daily illustrations as well. You can view them on my Facebook Page - Sey Studios on Facebook!!

Welcome to 2012!

In honor of the time honored tradition of resolutions, I have decided to embark on one of my own. You have probably heard of the 365 day challenge we all try to ascertain. Well I am here to go on that epic quest, in creating a drawing a day for an entire year!

I have attempted this in the past, but usually mid year when things were already at their busiest and never really ended up reaching my goal. This year will be different. I plan to start off on the right foot and keep my goal. In order to keep my mind on the mission, I picked a theme in which I shall be sure to keep my drawings within the parameter of said theming. The theme of the year shall be "Monsters & Mischief".

What a whirl wind! Has the year seriously flown by so quickly? I feel like I just had a baby days ago, but she's now almost 4 months old. I actually had time to do shows this year too, which is crazy enough to think. Just landed another one for next weekend during downtown Fullerton's December Art Walk on the 2nd. I'm doing a solo show called "Inner Child" and I will be there selling, signing and ready for the holiday spirit. Even bought a new hat for the occasion.

Can't say I haven't been productive, but seriously... there just is never enough time in the day! Or year!

On behalf of Team Coco and TBS, we would like to extend a well-deserved congratulations on being selected as one of the fine artists of the NYCOCO MoCA Gallery! We have selected your piece, "Conan the Great Entertainer" to be featured in our gallery. As you may or may not already know, the gallery will be located at the world-famous Time Warner Center in New York City from October 24th-November 3rd - which is right around the corner!!

Woohoo! I'm beyond elated! Talk about unexpected! Life just keeps popping up with more surprises everyday! I wonder what shall come next! I will be sure to update with any more information I should receive about this event!

Friday, August 12th at 5:22am, my husband and I welcomed our first child into the world!

Pepper Lily Lively joined us at 6 pounds and 14 ounces at 19 inches long. <3

I sit and type here tonight with a dancing baby in my belly. Yes, she's still in there. Taking her sweet ole time. So while I wait for her to make up her mind on when she'll come out, I've been working on getting all my stuff in a row.

The counting book has been set a side as I put together a paper cut for a very lucky and sweet tour guide. I procured another commission just tonight for a children's character portrait, which is going to be so much fun because it is going to be a little boy in a monkey costume! Ah! I am overwhelmed with cuteness! Finished my friend's tattoo design of a Tardis (photos will be posted eventually when she gets the tattoo done so I can show you the before and after).

Working on a weird sleep schedule since my little belly monster doesn't like sleeping anymore. Dancing on my ribs is apparently way more fun than dream cycles.

So since I am up, being kicked and snuggled with, I finished updating my member profile for The Foundry, a local art gallery from my hometown. Next year, I will be exhibiting a solo show in  November focused on my children's illustration. I am super excited about this endeavor and have been making my Illustration Friday pieces focus on children's book artwork for the show next year. I cannot tell you how happy I am to be given this opportunity.

With that, I must make haste and work on these projects!

You know how I thought last week my water baby was going to swim out into the world? Well, I was wrong. She's still swimming inside me; more like squirming. All is well. She is just taking her time. Officially due the 6th, so we have some time and they say first babies sometimes wait until after their due date, though it doesn't look like we will have that situation. However, you never know with pregnancy. Every one is different. I was extremely anxious before, trying everything in the book to help her out and ease her along, still am, but now I'm not so much with the date coming up. She's so low now, which is a good thing. I don't know how much longer I can last with her like this, but I will. At least I have had more time to complete some projects and keep my mind distracted.

Going to see what I can pull out of my mind today to finish Illustration Friday's "obsession" theme. Then maybe make some banana chocolate chip cookies. Mmmm...

Finally found a medium that I am happy with for the counting book... so my goal is to finish that in the next couple days (if not by the end of the month). I know... I know. I have been saying it would be done since last year, but baby delayed that due to sickness. Just hoping she stays in long enough so I can finish it. Thankfully everything is drawn out, I just need to paint them. Well everything but one panel. My husband, the author, has been so kinda and sweet during this entire time of pregnancy. I'm so grateful to have a man like him in my life. Nearly done with the wedding portrait. Coming out great! <3

We took a break on Sunday for just ourselves. He took me to Disneyland for the day and I stuck it out walking the entire time! No wheelchair! I was very happy and proud of that. Kept hydrated and rested but we did a few miles, which is awesome for myself and the belly monster. Finally got to experience The Little Mermaid ride (loved it)! We also partook in the Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Star Tours (the cue just for me, but totally worth it), Soundsational Parade (gorgeous, I cried) and the Mary Blair exhibit. Talk about a busy day! Then on top of it all, my parents came down for a surprise visit and we had dinner with them. I was so happy. Just a pleasant day that was much needed.

Hope everyone else is having a wonderful summer! Thank you all for the favorites and adds! I will do my best to update with one or two illustrations from the counting book before my baby makes her debut. Less than 3 weeks left (for her). Definitely missing out on the San Diego Comic Con this year. I know! What timing on my part? lol So have fun for me out there!

Finally, I can handle sweets again! In honor of this joyous occasion, I finally finished my "Cupcake Minions" illustration (now available on Etsy - [link] ).

I have just one more commission to complete and then I'm on hiatus for a while. I don't know how long, but with the baby due in August, I don't want to take any more until we get a handle on how our little one will operate. You know, being new parents and all, we are in for a ton of surprises. I'll do my best to update. I have a month left, well apparently, so I may do some other pieces if I have time or get bored. To be quite honest, this nesting disease has taken over most of my time, but my studio is super clean!

As you can tell, I have not been as active on here as I used to be. These last two months of baking a baby seemed to be going so well, and I was catching up on alot, and then sinuses hit. I finally got somewhat of a handle on them, but still am recouping from a bad sinus infection (ick I know)! It has been keeping me away from coloring my children's book (which will be done before Miss Pepper Lily decides to make her debute. That is my goal.

I have been able to catch up on my commissions. One left to complete, one on hold, and another possible tattoo commission in a few weeks (whoo!) I love designing tattoos for people. I don't ink personally, but I am excited to see the end results of those getting inked.

For those who like updates better on Blogger, Tumblr or Twitter add me there as well. I know everyone has their own special social media outlet to keep them updated, so I am doing my best to update all of them so no one is missing out on anything good.

The ACE Art Crawl Experience is happening again for a second time, this Saturday, May 14th from 5pm - 10pm! Come join us in downtown Anaheim, Center Street Promenade & Lemon Street to see the indie arts & craft fair (that's where I'll be), live street painting, open galleries, the MUSEO museum, artist studios and outdoor art installations! Also live entertainment throughout the night and fantastic food from Food Truck Alley or eat at 419, a bar that sells fantastic burgers and the best quesidilla out there! Seriously! Noms!

One future show to keep in mind is the "Art for Japan" exhibition to be held at Gallery Nucleus. The opening reception will be held on April 23rd. The online auction will begin on April 20th and end the 25th. Selected works will go up and be displayed in the gallery for the opening. I've donated my paper sculpture "Lovely Lisa" to the auction. I feel Lisa would have liked that. <3 All proceeds will go to the give2asia organization which is led by Dice Tsunami, art director of Pixar.

... to everyone who came out to The Pink Parlour Festival yesterday! And to my awesome husband who assisted me at the booth. I could not have done the event without his help! Seriously!

You all made it worth wild! I definitely want to do this again next year that is for sure. Great venue, fun crowd, and tons and tons of hairstyles, outfits and decor to drool over. I just can't get enough pin up and rockabilly into my life. Next year, I will have to devote a portion of my time to check out the car show that was in the middle of the race track while the ponies were going! And to see more of the performers on the main stage (i.e. the Atomic Cherry Bombs, etc.)

2) Can I buy something without being a member of Etsy?

You'll need to sign up w/ Etsy (it's super easy) to buy anything directly from my shop. If you'd rather not do that, contact me and we can discuss a private sale. At this time, I only accept payment through PayPal.

3) Do you take commissions?

Remember, it doesn't hurt to ask. Requesting an item does not mean you are locked into a sale or purchase. Also requests are commissions and are not free. This is a job and as much as I love giving away things, I need to eat too.

I do my best to try to respond, but the computer often hurts my eyes and what time I can limit to the screen has to do with creating. But I do read and appreciate everything, I promise.

I am up way too early on a Saturday... but apparently it's time to wake up because I cannot fall back asleep. Had too many nightmares last night. They weren't your average variety either. I would categorize them into pregnancy dreams because they were so freakin' weird! I mean I have weird dreams, had weird dreams before the pregnancy. I'd always remember them in such vivid detail. I am what you would call a lucid dreamer; I can become active in them and make my own decisions, change it up and what not. But last night, it wouldn't let me. They kept taking me to really weird twists and turns and things that were so off the cuff (and I'm used to off the cuff) that I was afraid of them. Not like an ax murderer is trying to kill me, but stupid things, like my car wouldn't blink when I clicked the what I call the "find my car" button and there was an officer by my car. They were all so radically different. I'm glad I'm awake. After a weird one, I usually can go back to sleep and dream of something mundane or happy. Not the constant confusing and weird ones.

Oh, well, I'm up. Let's see what's on the agenda of 'to-do's' today.

Holy cow! You think I would give myself a break at some point. But I don't. Have it in my head I can finish a ton of things in such a short amount of time. When will I learn? At least it is creating art stuff though.

Finished a wedding portrait and invitation commission yesterday. Just loved how it turned out. The bride and groom had some interesting takes on the invitation, and I just love how both mine and their perspectives clashed and created something awesome! <3 Feel better now that it is done because they needed it so soon, and I've been out sick myself which pushed back production. Blah my body and stressing out for no good reasons. Again... you'd think I learn! Doing way better though. Started meditating and yoga (well that starts today, really!)

New events I will be participating in so you can meet and greet and get some goodies is Pomona's last Saturday Art Walk (March 26th at the Farmer's Market) and The Pink Parlour Festival at the Santa Anita Raceway the following day (Sunday, March 27th)! Very excited about both since I have not done either. <3 I can't wait.
